Republicans Justin Fareed and Katcho Achadjian were in a tight battle for second place, with Fareed ahead at 20.5 percent and Achadjian less than two percentage points behind.

The 24th Congressional District race has attracted much attention and campaign cash.

The district includes a small piece of Ventura County, taking in communities along the coast and a portion of Ventura, although the 5,302 local registered voters make up less than 1.5 percent of the district total. All of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties are included.

Nine candidates in all were on Tuesday’s ballot.
